Two sisters, Mai and Lan, live with their family in a small village on the edge of the forest. Every day, they go to the field together to harvest cassava roots. Mai is the best at pulling cassava roots out of the soil, while Lan is the fastest at separating leaves and cutting cassava roots into pieces that fit.
One clear autumn morning, when the sun had just appeared, the two sisters were soon in the field. Together they brought baskets of cassava to harvest. The smell of red earth mixed with the smell of fresh cassava spreads everywhere. Mai walked ahead, feeling each cassava stalk, with her skillful hands, she pulled each root out of the ground quickly. Lan followed, with a sharp knife, she cut the cassava roots just enough to put them in the basket.
When the basket was full of cassava, the two sisters returned home. They laughed and talked to each other, while the sunlight shone through the dense trees of the forest. Lan looked forward and said: "This year's cassava is so big and delicious, the price must be very high." Mai smiled and nodded and replied: "Yes, you cut it very evenly, the whole family must be very happy to see our cassava."
When they arrived at the village market, the two sisters brought a basket of cassava to the corner of the market where they usually displayed their goods. Fresh cassava baskets sparkle in the afternoon sun. Everyone passing by was surprised and praised the large and even cassava trees. Mai and Lan smiled when they saw buyers rushing to buy their cassava.
This is a long day, but with the love of work and love for family, the two sisters have brought joy and satisfaction to the whole house
