Life for Lan, a 17-year-old girl, has not been easy. Every day, she faces the challenges and difficulties of growing bananas and improving an empty lot near her home. Lan's family was not well-off, and her parents worked hard to raise their three children. As the eldest sister, Lan feels a responsibility to support her parents and earn extra income for the family.

Every day, since the sun had not yet come out, Lan had woken up to start work. She carried her small but strong hands out into the garden, tending each banana tree. But Lan is undaunted, she continues her work in hopes of turning the wasteland into a lush green garden.
